Troubleshooting:NT Kernel high cpu usage

NT Kernel high cpu usage

On Win7Pro system, i7 quad core processor, 8GB ram.

I notice that NT Kernel & System is often using relatively high cpu, even though not many programs are loaded.
After initial boot/reboot, problem disappears, but eventually reappears.
It would seem to point to a memory leak of some kind perhaps that eventually
is triggering a cpu spike.

Modules associated with the process are all MS, except for some Symantec Internet Security drivers and files.

Any ideas?

Solutions to the Problem NT Kernel high cpu usage

Hi,

- Did you install or update the hardware drivers recently?
- Were any changes made to the computer prior to the issue?

To find out the cause behind this issue, let's place the computer in clean boot state and check if any program/service is triggering the CPU usage.

Note: Once done troubleshooting, place the computer back to normal state by following the steps mentioned in "How to return Windows to a normal startup mode".

Update all the drivers installed on the computer.
Download and install the latest drivers from the computer manufacturer website.

Also, run a virus scan on the computer from Safe mode with networking just to make sure there are no virus infections.
